UltraSynth is a monophonic synthesizer designed with a focus on high-quality sound through 64-fold oversampling, a technique also employed in UltrasonicRingMod. This advanced oversampling reduces aliasing and preserves the clarity of modulation effects, resulting in smooth and precise audio output. Although this approach demands significant CPU resources, it offers a distinct sonic character for users seeking detailed synthesis.
The synthesizer features two basic oscillators producing triangle, sawtooth, and pulse waveforms, with options for cross and feedback phase modulation to create complex tones. A sine wave low-frequency oscillator adds modulation possibilities, enhancing sound movement and expression. UltraSynth also includes two distortion types—square root and full wave rectification—and a lowpass filter for shaping the tonal quality.
While primarily developed for Linux, UltraSynth's macOS version remains experimental, and it currently supports Ubuntu 22.04 with build instructions available for other distributions. The source code is open for those interested in exploring or contributing to its development, reflecting a community-driven approach. Support through donations helps maintain and improve the synthesizer's capabilities.
