ModSynth is an 8-voice polyphonic synthesizer inspired by classic instruments like the EMS SynthiA, Sequential Circuits Prophet-5, and Oberheim Xpander. It offers two oscillators with multiple waveforms including sine, triangle, sawtooth, and pulse with adjustable width, alongside noise generation. The sound design is enriched with wave folding and wave shaping modules that add harmonics and unique tonal character. High-pass and low-pass filters with adjustable cutoff and resonance provide further tonal sculpting, while a single LFO and envelope generators allow for dynamic modulation.
One of ModSynth's standout features is its comprehensive matrix modulation system, which enables flexible routing of modulation sources like oscillators, LFOs, and envelopes to various destinations such as oscillator pitch, wave parameters, and filter cutoffs. This approach encourages users to create sounds from scratch, as the synthesizer does not include preset patches. Additional features like portamento and volume control enhance performance capabilities. The signal path is carefully designed to flow through oscillators, wave folding and shaping, filtering, drive, and amplifier stages, resulting in rich and evolving tones.
ModSynth ensures high-quality sound with anti-aliased oscillator waves and provides a user-friendly interface where all controls are available on a resizable panel. This design facilitates hands-on control and experimentation, making it suitable for musicians and producers who enjoy crafting unique sounds. By focusing on sound creation without relying on presets, it invites users to explore deep synthesis possibilities with a visually accessible and flexible setup.
