SyncSawSynth is a synthesizer featuring up to 10th order PTR sawtooth oscillators, utilizing polynomial transition regions to minimize aliasing. It offers two oscillators that can generate sawtooth or sine waves, with three distinct hard sync options for varied tonal characteristics. Users can create square waves through phase inversion and benefit from frequency modulation between oscillators, enabling a wide range of sound design possibilities including noise textures.
The synth includes an AD envelope shaped by a mathematical formula and an exponential ADSR envelope enhanced with saturation for dynamic output control. Modulation sources include a sine LFO and a pink noise generator, both capable of affecting frequency parameters. A comprehensive filter section consists of four serially connected biquads with feedback, supporting low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and notch modes. Filter envelopes modulate cutoff and resonance with key tracking, providing expressive tonal shaping.
Currently, SyncSawSynth is optimized but still demands moderate CPU resources, especially when using multiple voices. The macOS version is experimental, and Linux support is primarily for Ubuntu 22.04, with build instructions available for other distributions. The source code is publicly accessible, encouraging community involvement and further development. Users are advised to manage voice count to maintain efficient performance during music production.
