Plastique is a subtractive synthesizer featuring two oscillators that utilize 31 waveforms originally from the Casio HT-700 synth. While inspired by classic 80s lo-fi sounds, it expands on the original hardware's capabilities with enhanced features. The synth offers oscillator sync, octave and semitone detune options, enabling rich and dynamic tonal variations. Its sound engine is designed to deliver both vintage character and modern flexibility.
The instrument includes a highly configurable resonant low pass filter that can be adjusted from 2 up to 16 poles, providing precise control over the sonic texture. It also features volume and pitch envelopes, a tempo-synced LFO with ten waveform shapes, and a variety of modulation options that can affect both filter and pitch. Additional creative tools include a tempo-synced arpeggiator with multiple modes and adjustable octave range, as well as a tempo-synced delay effect for rhythmic depth.
Further enhancing its character, Plastique incorporates chorus effects and several lo-fi options such as quality reduction, distortion, and pitch drift to introduce a distinctive instability reminiscent of vintage gear. The synth comes with 64 presets crafted by experienced sound designers, offering a broad palette of sounds from classic analog textures to more experimental tones. This makes it suitable for producers seeking authentic retro vibes alongside contemporary sound design possibilities.
