Phosphor is a digital additive synthesizer plugin inspired by the early 80s alphaSyntauri, a classic instrument that originally required an Apple IIe to operate. This modern adaptation brings the distinctive sound and character of the vintage synth directly into your digital audio workstation, eliminating the need for legacy hardware. Phosphor faithfully recreates the original’s sonic essence while incorporating contemporary enhancements to elevate your music production experience.
The latest version introduces a refreshed interface and expanded modulation capabilities, including two LFOs with multiple waveforms and a flexible modulation routing panel that simplifies sound design. It supports MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE) for expressive performance and allows tuning beyond standard scales through TUN-file compatibility. The synth features two independent voices with additive wavetable oscillators, noise sources, envelopes, and delay lines, providing a rich palette ranging from the original’s vintage tones to high-resolution clarity and complex cross-modulation effects reminiscent of the Synclavier.
Phosphor also includes a new preset manager that streamlines patch organization, import, export, and sharing across platforms. This system supports folder structures and zip-archives, making it easy to manage your sounds or distribute preset collections. With a scalable, high-resolution user interface and a comprehensive factory preset library, Phosphor combines nostalgic character with modern workflow enhancements, offering a unique instrument that bridges classic synthesis and contemporary creativity.
