MW2E is a Mac OS X application designed for controlling and organizing the sound parameters of the Waldorf Microwave II Synthesizer, including the XT series. It communicates with the hardware through system exclusive MIDI messages, enabling precise management of every aspect of the synthesizer's sound engine. The program features an intuitive interface that allows users to adjust parameters via sliders, popup menus, or direct value entry, streamlining the editing process.

At the core of MW2E lies a powerful bank manager with drag-and-drop support, making it easy to organize and recall patches. The software also provides an extensive sound editor driven by system exclusive data, giving users full control over all synthesis parameters. This includes the capability to edit wavetables and waves, essential elements of the Microwave II's wavetable synthesis, allowing for deep customization and creative sound design.

MW2E expands creative possibilities by enabling users to copy non-algorithmic ROM or RAM-based waves into user tables or free wave memory slots. It supports creating new user waves through additive synthesis or mathematical expressions, as well as programming algorithmic wavetables for frequency modulation and wave shaping. The latest version runs natively on modern Apple silicon Macs, ensuring optimal performance on current hardware.
