10k+ plugins and counting. It's free.
MidiRouter is a MIDI processor plugin designed specifically for live keyboard performers who use a MIDI keyboard alongside VST instruments on their computer. It operates within your VST host, positioned between the MIDI input and your VST instruments, allowing you to control up to eight different instruments by assigning each to a unique MIDI channel. This setup enables seamless switching between instruments during performances by altering the MIDI channel, which also adjusts the corresponding volume level automatically.
When you select an instrument within MidiRouter, the interface clearly indicates the active MIDI channel, changing its display color to highlight the current instrument, and shows the instrument's name prominently. This visual feedback helps performers keep track of their active sounds during live sessions, enhancing workflow and minimizing confusion when switching between multiple VST instruments.
MidiRouter offers extensive customization through its core '.mrf' configuration files, which users can edit with any text editor. These files allow you to define instrument names, assign MIDI channels, set volume levels, configure control change (CC) messages for switching instruments and adjusting volumes, and specify keys for instrument changes in 'Keys mode.' This flexibility empowers users to tailor the plugin to their unique performance needs, creating a personalized MIDI routing environment.
