Vocotron merges the capabilities of a sampler and a vocoder within a uniquely designed keyboard split into two distinct zones. The left side functions as a sampler and modulator source for the integrated vocoder, while the right side acts as the carrier, setting the tonal foundation. This design allows users to explore creative sound manipulation by selecting chords on the right and triggering samples on the left, enabling the production of varied tonalities and textures from the same waveforms.

Equipped with three internal sample banks and support for custom wave files, Vocotron’s built-in sampler offers extensive sound-shaping options including key mapping, looping, reversing, pitch tuning, and shifting. Its core is powered by a precise 32-band vocoder covering a wide frequency range, with adjustable bandwidth and individual band level control for detailed tonal refinement. This level of control ensures a rich and dynamic sound experience tailored to the user’s needs.

The carrier sound is generated by an internal synthesizer featuring two oscillators with detune and FM modulation, along with mono and stereo modes plus glide for smooth transitions. Although the carrier zone is compact, its range is extended through coarse tuning capabilities. Vocotron goes beyond traditional vocal and drum processing, offering fresh possibilities for crafting distinctive basses, pads, textures, and rhythmic elements, making it a powerful tool for innovative sound design.
