It selects notes from user-defined inputs based on assigned probabilities, enabling the creation of evolving melodies, rich synth and string sections, unique bass lines, and dynamic drum patterns. The inclusion of chord input and predefined scales streamlines pattern creation, making it accessible without requiring music theory expertise.

This sequencer supports polyrhythmic and polymetric patterns up to 64 steps in length across four independent layers. This flexibility allows for complex musical structures, from classical pieces with interlocking rhythms to dance tracks with intricate timing beyond standard beats. Patterns can be chained and randomized to introduce variety, prevent repetition, and maintain evolving sequences during playback.

Stochas also offers a groove template editor that grants full control over timing and feel, with the ability to save and load templates across sessions for consistent rhythmic expression. MIDI input support enables integration with hardware controllers or other MIDI sources, allowing real-time manipulation of pattern lengths, transpositions, and note density, making it ideal for both live performances and studio work.
