Shapiro 2 is an innovative eight-oscillator synthesizer that takes a unique approach to sound generation by pairing oscillators and allowing extensive modulation of their output. Each oscillator pair’s signal undergoes a series of shaping processes, starting with an FM shaper that uses sine waves to alter timbre rather than traditional FM synthesis. This is followed by a classic wave shaper and a distinctive Field processor that employs impulse responses within a convolution engine to further transform the sound. The signal is then refined through a dedicated multi-mode filter, shaping the final tonal character.

The combined output of all four voices passes through a rich effects section and a legato system inspired by orchestral ROMplers, enhancing expressiveness and sonic depth. Shapiro 2 offers detailed modulation options, including envelopes, user-drawn LFOs, tempo-synced gates, sample and hold, as well as keyboard and velocity sensitivity. Each voice features its own arpeggiator, enabling the creation of complex and dynamic melodic patterns. The synth also supports MPE, per-voice pitch bend, and keyboard splits, allowing for advanced expressive control.
