Shapey! is an innovative synthesizer featuring a unique approach to wavetable synthesis through a single complex oscillator divided into three distinct sections. This design blends concepts inspired by FM synthesis with a fresh architecture where the modulator influences the pitch and timing of a sample-based carrier. Depending on its configuration, this setup enables a variety of synthesis techniques, allowing for rich and diverse sound creation. The synth includes a dedicated waveshaping and effects section that further transforms sounds, expanding creative possibilities.

The modulator operates in two modes: as a multi-waveform oscillator with pitch, glide, and gain controls, or as a sample-based oscillator that enables layering two samples within a single patch. This flexibility is paired with a versatile carrier sample player offering precise control over position, pitch, and timing, along with smoothing and quantization features. A dual-mode filter inspired by classic hardware provides low-pass and high-pass filtering options in serial or parallel configurations, complemented by a modulation input and a simple envelope stage for dynamic shaping.

Shapey! also includes an extensive modulation section featuring envelopes, looping AR envelopes synced to tempo, versatile LFOs with multiple waveforms, and quantization capabilities. A flexible arpeggiator and step sequencer facilitate intricate rhythmic patterns that enhance musical expression. Compatible with Mac OS and Windows as VST3 and Audio Unit plugins, Shapey! is built using HISE and FAUST, delivering a powerful and efficient synthesis engine designed for experimental sound design.
