Poseidon presents a clean and intuitive interface that simplifies the synthesis process, making it accessible with minimal learning effort. At its core, it operates as an analog-style oscillator-filter synthesizer, but what sets it apart is the sophisticated technology beneath the surface. The oscillator is powered by a spectral modeling engine derived from the acclaimed VirSyn CUBE synthesizer, offering rich and complex sound generation capabilities. Complementing this is a newly designed variable slope filter employing VirSyn's innovative F-domain synthesis, delivering unique tonal shaping options.
The spectral modeling oscillator features 512 oscillators that can create harmonic, inharmonic, and noise spectra, along with an 8-voice unison mode for thick, layered sounds. It also includes advanced temporal control options such as modulatable time stretching, compression, and a time freeze function, allowing deep manipulation of sound evolution. Additional controls provide fine-tuning of timbre and brightness, balancing between partial spectra and residual noise, plus frequency stretching and amplitude/frequency blurring for dynamic sonic textures.
Poseidon further enhances sound design with a flexible F-domain filter offering lowpass, highpass, comb, and anti-resonance modes, complete with adjustable resonance and bandwidth. Its spatializer enables independent stereo positioning for each partial, creating expansive and dynamic soundscapes. Users can import AIFF and WAV samples for resynthesis, and the synthesizer includes a suite of effects such as chorus, phaser, flanger, distortion, echo, delay, and reverb. An integrated arpeggiator with Scala microtuning support and MIDI learn functionality rounds out its comprehensive feature set.
