Phat Mustard is an audio plugin designed to enhance stereo tracks through mid/side equalization, focusing on high and low frequency bands. The high frequencies are controlled by the Spice parameter, while the low frequencies are managed by the Phat control. After applying EQ, the signal is divided using a crossover, allowing for targeted multiband digital compression and saturation that respond to the Spice and Phat settings. Visual indicators provide real-time feedback on the compression levels applied to each band.

Following the multiband processing, the output is routed through a full-band compressor that emulates the characteristics of classic FET, Opto, and Console compressors. This adds dynamic control and tonal coloration, resulting in a polished and cohesive sound. The plugin’s architecture is particularly effective for stereo sources such as buses and masters, where it can enhance the punch and brightness of the overall mix without overwhelming the original tonal balance.

By adjusting the Phat amount, users can enrich the bass frequencies in the mid channel, while increasing the Spice amount enhances the high frequencies in the side channel.
