Phat C is an analog-inspired compressor designed for both individual tracks and buses, delivering rich and dynamic compression that emulates multiple classic hardware units. Its unique Input Stage provides saturation that colors the signal and influences how the compressor reacts to various audio material. This feature enhances the tonal character by adding warmth and subtle harmonic distortion before the compression process.

The compressor offers six distinct saturation models including VCA, Opto, Fet, Tranny, Tape, and Tube, each recreating vintage harmonic textures and soft clipping effects that shape the transient response. With the Input Saturation Mix control, users can blend the saturation effect to taste, while the High Pass filter helps preserve low-end clarity. Additionally, the 'Spank' mode intensifies transient control for more aggressive attack shaping.

Phat C features a comprehensive set of controls such as adjustable threshold, a wide range of ratio options with soft knee for lower ratios, selectable fast or normal attack times, and release settings from 50 milliseconds up to 3 seconds. It also includes a wet/dry mix slider for parallel compression, gain make-up up to 40 dB, phase reverse, and visual feedback through plasma-style input and output VU meters.
