Noxious is a polyphonic additive synthesizer designed to offer a streamlined approach to additive synthesis. Instead of building partials from scratch, it starts with a selected basic waveform from a predefined list, which may include complex, non-purely periodic waves. Leveraging its additive engine, Noxious can generate up to 200 sine wave partials per waveform, providing rich harmonic content for sound creation.

The synthesizer features a chain of up to five modifiers that sequentially shape the partials by adjusting their levels, pitch, or both. Each modifier targets specific subsets of partials and includes options such as equalizers, tuners, and noise generators. Beyond these modifiers, Noxious offers two multi-mode filters in series, including low pass, high pass, band pass, and a unique vowel filter, all available with selectable slopes and resonance to further refine the sound.

To enhance expressiveness, Noxious integrates extensive modulation capabilities with two LFOs, two modulation envelopes, an amplitude envelope, and performance controls like velocity, aftertouch, and modulation wheel. Its modulation matrix allows users to customize modulation routing with adjustable intensity. Additionally, external control voltage signals can interact with Noxious through a cable system, enabling seamless integration with other devices for dynamic sound shaping.
