10k+ plugins and counting. It's free.
Multitimbral Control is a straightforward plugin designed to manage up to 16 MIDI channels simultaneously, making it an excellent tool for hardware multitimbral sound modules. It offers precise control over essential parameters such as Volume, Pan, and Program Change, including MSB, LSB, and Program Number. Additionally, the plugin features two assignable MIDI Control Changes mapped to knobs, enabling users to override presets easily and customize sounds on the fly.
This plugin is particularly valuable for digital audio workstations that lack comprehensive external device management, especially those without MSB and LSB bank selection options. Many hosts provide only basic bank and program number controls, which are insufficient for hardware requiring MSB and LSB values to access specific banks, as seen with Emu Proteus synthesizers. By centralizing control of the entire sound module, Multitimbral Control simplifies the mixing and tweaking process, allowing for more intuitive adjustments from a single interface rather than managing individual MIDI channels separately.
The user interface is designed to be intuitive, especially for those familiar with mixing consoles. While setting up the plugin to communicate with hardware can vary depending on the host, most digital audio workstations will recognize the plugin’s MIDI outputs as available MIDI inputs. This setup allows routing the MIDI input to the correct MIDI port connected to the target hardware. Essentially, it functions like configuring a MIDI track to play hardware, but instead of selecting a keyboard or controller as the input, the Multitimbral Control output is chosen, streamlining the workflow for managing complex MIDI setups.
