The plugin offers two distinct modes for pitch determination: Note and Drums. In Note Mode, Molecular follows held MIDI notes using a predefined sequence to create polyphonic or monophonic arpeggiated patterns with varied rhythmic figures. Drums Mode maps pitches to semitones, enabling creative manipulation of drum racks and samplers, expanding the scope for playful rhythm generation.

Beyond arpeggiation, Molecular functions as a MIDI looper by storing, overlaying, and looping note patterns. This layering capability controls note density and allows for persistent rhythmic patterns that evolve with new input.
