Hyperion is a semi-modular algorithmic MIDI note generator designed for both live performance and automated composition. It offers a flexible approach to creating dynamic and evolving MIDI sequences, making it suitable for musicians and producers seeking innovative ways to generate melodic content. Its structure allows easy manipulation of musical phrases, enabling users to explore a variety of note patterns with minimal effort.
The system incorporates LFOs, sequencers, and counters to craft intricate MIDI sequences that can be adjusted in real-time or used to modulate other elements within the setup. Hyperion supports up to three parts on separate MIDI channels, producing glissandos or subtly shifting sequences through a straightforward chord function. Additionally, it can function as a phrase arpeggiator, ensuring musical output remains harmonically consistent and rhythmically aligned.
With its semi-modular architecture, each component can be influenced by preceding modules in the modulation hierarchy, allowing for complex interactions between elements. Components have dedicated sources for counting and resetting, such as a sequencer that counts measures and resets via MIDI NoteOn events. Outputs are stored for recall and adapt seamlessly across different scales and tempos, offering a highly adaptable tool for melodic generation.
