Atomika is a meticulously crafted software synthesizer inspired by the Polivoks, a unique analog synth produced in the Soviet Union during the 1980s. This emulation captures the distinctive character of the original instrument while greatly expanding its sonic capabilities. Developed in collaboration with award-winning DSP engineer Mark Barton, Atomika introduces enhanced filter options, full polyphony, and a rich set of modulation features that bring new depth and flexibility to the classic design.
The original Polivoks is renowned for its gritty and aggressive filter sound, achieved through an unconventional use of programmable op-amps rather than typical filter components. Atomika faithfully recreates this signature tone and extends it with additional controls such as Starve, Filter Drive, and Amp Drive, plus new filter modes including highpass, notch, and peak. Beyond sound, Atomika offers a modern workflow with a two-panel interface featuring an arpeggiator and four professional effects—Phasor, Flange/Chorus, Echo, and Reverb—enhanced by dedicated modulation sources for dynamic sound shaping.
Designed to meet the needs of contemporary producers, Atomika supports up to 16 voices of polyphony and includes performance enhancements like velocity sensitivity, aftertouch, pitch and modulation wheel responses, and flexible glide options. Over 350 presets provide a wide palette of sounds ranging from vintage textures to powerful new timbres. Its immersive and customizable user interface, along with comprehensive MIDI mapping and automation capabilities, make Atomika a compelling choice for anyone seeking the distinctive edge of Soviet-era synthesis combined with modern production tools.
