The trapezoidal yangqin is a traditional Chinese hammered dulcimer with origins tracing back to the Iranian santur. Known historically as 洋琴, meaning "foreign zither," its name evolved to 揚琴, which translates to "acclaimed instrument." This distinctive stringed instrument, also referred to as yang quin or yang ch'in, has influenced various musical cultures across Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and South Asia. Variants such as the santoor and cymbalom share similar heritage, and the yangqin itself contributed to the development of Thailand’s classical khim.
This extensively sampled 3GB yangqin library offers the most authentic and detailed digital rendition of the instrument available. Utilizing cutting-edge hybrid modeling technology, it captures expressive techniques like glissando, vibrato, bending, and harmonics with remarkable realism. The integration of real-time timbre modification allows for dynamic sound variation during performance, making the instrument feel more organic and responsive than traditional sample-based instruments. Added playing noises further enhance the realism, ensuring an indistinguishable experience from the actual yangqin.
The library includes over 1,800 meticulously recorded samples and multiple playing articulations to cover the instrument’s rich expressive range. Its innovative performance key switch system, built-in high-quality reverb and EQ, and versatile envelope controls provide flexible sound shaping options. Support for Scala tuning enables emulation of ancient Chinese tuning systems, expanding creative possibilities. Efficient resource management through DFD and RAM systems optimizes performance for any project setup, while the user interface adapts seamlessly between standard and 4K resolutions for an enhanced user experience.
