This VSTi plugin converts polyphonic MIDI input into xenharmonic MPE MIDI, allowing musicians to explore alternative tuning systems beyond the standard 12-tone equal temperament. By routing the output to a compatible synthesizer with MPE support and adjusting the pitch bend range accordingly, players can perform in various xen scales with up to 15 voices. This expands creative possibilities for sound design and performance, offering fresh approaches to melody and harmony.
Users can select different xen scales, which define the number of pitch classes per octave, with 12-tone equal temperament being the most common. The base pitch remains consistent across scales, while the master tune parameter allows fine adjustments in hertz for precise tuning. The pitch bend range must be matched to the target synth's MPE settings to ensure accurate pitch control. An auto MPE mode simplifies setup by automatically managing MIDI channels, eliminating the need for manual separation during input.
The plugin offers multiple play modes to suit different performance styles. The rescale mode maps each MIDI value to a distinct pitch within the chosen xen scale, providing a complete alternative tuning framework. The nearest mode retunes incoming notes to the closest pitch based on the standard 12-tone scale interpretation, allowing smoother transitions between traditional and xenharmonic sounds. Additionally, an audio output option lets users test the configuration directly within the plugin, ensuring seamless integration with their workflow.
