VU8 is a high precision 8-channel meter designed for accurate audio level monitoring in 7.1 surround sound setups. It supports multiple metering modes including Peak, Program Peak, VU, and Power metering, with flexible integration and decay times ranging from 1 sample to several seconds. Meter headroom is finely adjustable in small increments, allowing users to tailor the display to their specific monitoring needs.

The plugin offers two independent meter settings per preset, enabling quick switching between different metering styles. Each VU meter includes an over-hold LED for clear indication of peak levels, along with a secondary peak-hold needle for enhanced visual feedback. Users can control the correlation between channels via a routing matrix, providing detailed insight into phase relationships across all channel combinations.

VU8 also allows individual meters to be toggled on or off to conserve CPU resources, making it suitable for stereo or 5.1 monitoring configurations as well as full 7.1 setups. With 16 factory presets included, it offers immediate usability across a variety of audio production scenarios, delivering precise and customizable metering in a streamlined interface.
