Virtual Audio Cable (VAC) enables seamless audio routing between applications by creating virtual audio devices known as Virtual Cables. These cables act as playback and recording endpoints that any audio software can use to output or capture sound, allowing for flexible audio signal transfer without physical hardware.
By configuring audio applications to send sound to a Virtual Cable's playback endpoint and receive from its recording endpoint, users can efficiently route, mix, or distribute audio streams across multiple programs. This setup supports complex audio workflows such as chaining effects, combining sources, or sharing audio between different software environments.
Designed to meet WDM standards, the VAC driver functions as a Kernel Streaming audio filter, ensuring broad compatibility with Windows audio systems. When paired with ASIO-to-KS bridges like ASIO4ALL, Virtual Audio Cable integrates smoothly with ASIO-based digital audio workstations, expanding routing possibilities for professional audio production.
