ValhallaPlate is a true stereo plate reverb that emulates the characteristics of a steel plate with two input drivers and two output pickups. This plugin supports flexible routing options, including mono-in/mono-out, mono-in/stereo-out, and stereo-in/stereo-out configurations, allowing it to fit seamlessly into various mixing setups. It delivers a realistic plate reverb experience by modeling essential physical properties such as high diffusion for dense echoes and frequency-dependent decay times, providing rich lows and clear highs controlled by a single Decay parameter.

The reverb effect in ValhallaPlate is designed to create a three-dimensional soundstage, employing dispersion techniques that give the impression of reverb originating outside the speakers and fading into the space behind them. It expands on traditional plate reverb capabilities by offering variable size controls that influence the metallic quality of the sound, with smaller sizes producing more metallic delays and larger sizes yielding clearer reverbs. Additionally, lush modulation is applied to smooth out metallic artifacts while preserving the pitch integrity of the input signal.

ValhallaPlate features seven unique algorithms, including four reverb modes—Chrome, Steel, Brass, and Cobalt—that capture the resonance densities characteristic of real plate reverberators. Three additional modes—Aluminum, Copper, and Unobtanium—blend the three-dimensional dispersion effects of steel plates with the dense resonance of reverberation chambers. The plugin carries forward Valhalla DSP’s user-friendly design with a minimalist, resizable interface and a comprehensive preset browser that simplifies saving and recalling settings.
