tubePlug is a network audio plug-in designed to enable high-quality multi-channel audio exchange over the Internet between multiple users. It functions as a receiver, sender, or server, facilitating seamless collaboration in real-time audio sessions. One user acts as the server to host the network session, while others connect as senders or receivers, making it ideal for live performances and remote collaborations.

Once the server is established, senders can stream stereo high-quality audio, and receivers can select from available streams or choose an audio mix that combines all senders’ inputs at equal levels. This setup supports dynamic audio sharing, allowing participants to experience a cohesive and rich sound environment. The server role is often provided by the venue during hosted performances, ensuring stable and reliable audio transmission.

tubePlug operates as a VST or Audio Unit plug-in on Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later and as a VST plug-in on Windows platforms including 9x, ME, and XP. It was developed as a project of the t-u-b-e gallery for radiophonic art installations and audio performances in collaboration with the City of Munich Cultural Office and büro Munich. The plug-in is freeware for non-commercial use, making it accessible for creative projects and experimental audio networking.
