ToneZ is a free, cross-platform polyphonic synthesizer available as a VST and AU plugin for Windows, MacOS, and Linux. Its modern user interface makes it an excellent choice for creating a wide range of sounds, including supersaws, leads, basses, and plucks. Built using the Cabbage framework and developed in Csound, ToneZ is open source, allowing for transparency and community-driven enhancements. The synthesizer features four oscillators with twelve waveforms, including the ability to load user-custom waveforms and morph between them. It supports up to eight voices with detune and stereo width controls, alongside four envelopes with customizable curves and a modulation matrix for flexible sound shaping.

ToneZ includes two multi-mode filter units offering low-pass, high-pass, and band-pass options with key tracking and filter drive. Two LFOs provide six wave shapes with BPM sync and musical gain key tracking. The plugin is equipped with six built-in effects such as distortion, equalizer, chorus, delay, reverb, and compressor. Additional features include a comprehensive preset system with over 100 presets, compatibility with earlier ToneZ presets, expert controls for detune and mix, portamento with glide and retrigger, and a waveform manager that supports loading and creating custom waveforms from WAV samples.
