Sunrizer offers a fresh take on the classic subtractive synthesizer design, combining familiar elements with unique features that enrich its sonic character. It features two oscillators and two sub-oscillators capable of producing a wide range of waveforms, including an emulation of the iconic JP-8000 supersaw. Users can shape their sound with pulse width, frequency, and ring modulation, as well as enjoy a unison mode that thickens the tone. The oscillators feed into two versatile filters with options for serial or parallel routing, covering traditional filter types alongside innovative algorithms like comb, resonator, waveshaper, and frequency shifter. Complementing this architecture are two ADSR envelopes and two LFOs, allowing modulation of nearly any parameter for dynamic and evolving sounds.
Sunrizer’s effects section enhances its sonic palette with a flexible input crossover filter, enabling effects to be applied selectively across the frequency spectrum. It includes four effect modules that offer smooth chorus, phaser, rotor effects, distortion, stereo delay, a two-band equalizer, and a spacious, highly adjustable reverb. Despite the extensive processing capabilities, the synthesizer maintains low CPU usage thanks to optimized coding. Beyond sound design, Sunrizer supports live performance with features like dual parameter sets per patch for seamless morphing, an arpeggiator with fully programmable sequences, per-note transposition, randomization, and chord memory. These tools empower musicians to craft intricate passages with ease.
The user interface of Sunrizer balances power and simplicity, presenting all controls on a single screen with visually appealing graphics optimized for high-resolution displays. The layout is designed for intuitive navigation, with carefully calibrated parameters that facilitate fast and precise sound crafting. With over 400 preset patches and compatibility with its iPad version, Sunrizer delivers a productive and enjoyable experience for both studio production and live performance, avoiding the complexity that can hinder creativity in many modern synthesizers.
