Sonoris Dither allows precise re-quantization of audio to lower bit-depths, incorporating dither and noise-shaping to maintain audio integrity. Users can select between two dither noise types: Triangular Probability Density Function (TPDF) and High Pass TPDF. TPDF is designed to eliminate non-linear distortion during quantization and avoids signal modulation artifacts, ensuring a clean and transparent sound.
The plugin offers three distinct noise-shaping curves labeled A, B, and C, alongside the option to disable noise-shaping entirely. Notably, noise-shaping can be applied independently of dither, providing flexible control over the sound shaping process. Output bit-depth settings include 16 and 20 bits, with an option to bypass quantization for maximum fidelity when needed.
Sonoris Dither is optimized for performance, featuring low CPU usage and full automation support. The dither generation is implemented in assembly language for efficiency, while the signal path uses 64-bit integer math except for noise-shaping filters. This combination ensures precise processing with minimal resource demands, making it suitable for both professional mastering and detailed audio work.
