Sonata is a soft-synth designed to deliver powerful single-shot leads and lush pads, making it ideal for a broad range of musical styles. Its unique sonic character excels at producing string-like tones and straightforward subtractive sounds, while also shining with sparkling mallet textures, deep basses, and warm, rich mid-range chromatic elements. This combination offers a distinctive palette that can enhance various compositions with both clarity and depth.
The synth is built around two independent sound generators, each controlled similarly but serving different roles in the sound creation process. One generator handles the immediate attack of the sound, while the other focuses on the fundamental tone. Both generate complex harmonic spectra that pass through filters to shape the desired overtones. Each generator has its own amplitude and filter envelopes, including exponential decay and ADSR, allowing for precise control over the sound's dynamics and tonal evolution.
After the initial sound shaping, the output is processed through a specialized delay system that creates intricate comb-filtering effects, enriching the tone by emphasizing specific frequencies much like the resonant body of a physical instrument. Additionally, Sonata includes three global effects—cross delay, distortion, and reverb—that further enhance the final sound, adding space and character to the patches. These features combine to make Sonata a compelling tool for musicians seeking expressive and textured synth sounds.
