Session Strings is a dynamic virtual string ensemble designed for use with Kontakt 4 and the free Kontakt Player. It offers expressive acoustic string sounds tailored for a range of contemporary music genres including pop, soul, R&B, disco, and house. Crafted through the advanced capabilities of the Kontakt platform, this instrument brings richly detailed string performances to producers seeking authentic and engaging string textures.

The ensemble features four violins, three violas, two cellos, and two double basses, recorded in one of Germany’s premier studios by sampling expert Thomas Koritke. Using exclusive 18th and 19th-century instruments played by top European orchestral musicians, Session Strings delivers outstanding tonal quality and articulate performances that capture the musical virtuosity of a live string group. The instrument groups are conveniently mapped across the keyboard with intelligent legato and glissando samples, allowing for natural and fluid string passages.

Session Strings includes the innovative Animator function, which transforms played notes into lively staccato, spiccato, and pizzicato chords or arpeggios with adjustable timing and groove while preserving natural legato. This feature helps producers create soulful, dynamic string parts with ease. Additionally, an integrated studio-grade convolution reverb provides realistic room ambiance, and optional Motown versions offer a special vintage string sound inspired by classic soul recordings of the 1960s and 1970s.
