Originating from the Scarbee Blue Bass library, it marks the collaboration between sampling specialist Thomas Hansen Skarbye and Native Instruments. This instrument is powered by the Kontakt engine and can be played using either the free Kontakt Player or the full Kontakt 3 sampler, delivering a comprehensive sonic palette ideal for various musical genres including pop, rock, hip-hop, jazz, and funk.

The instrument features meticulous sampling of all four strings at nine velocity levels, resulting in over 4,000 individual samples recorded through a DI to ensure maximum sonic flexibility. The use of round-wound strings contributes to its bright and punchy tone. Users can tailor the sound further using genre-specific Player Profiles, along with built-in EQ and effect controls, allowing for a personalized and dynamic performance that fits seamlessly into any musical context.

Scarbee Pre-Bass harnesses Kontakt’s advanced scripting capabilities to replicate authentic bass articulations such as hammer-ons, pull-offs, grace notes, trills, mutes, harmonics, fret noises, and more, many of which trigger automatically based on the played notes. The fretboard display visually represents playing positions and articulations in real-time, with intelligent string selection and finger alternation enhancing realism. Additionally, the Pre-Bass Amped version expands tonal options by including four amplifier models—Fat, Heavy, Crunchy, and Pop—offering a range from warm and tight to crispy and slightly distorted sounds, accommodating diverse musical styles.
