RedTron_SE is a Special Edition of the RedTron_400, designed to capture the authentic sound of the classic Mellotron M400S from 1973. This VST plugin utilizes carefully cleaned samples from the original instrument, with attention given to reducing unwanted noise such as 60Hz hum and occasional clicks without compromising its vintage character. The result is a highly expressive and true-to-source Mellotron experience that brings the nostalgic charm of tape-based sounds to modern production environments.

The plugin offers nine distinctive sound types including flutes, violins, cello, brass, choir, string sections, and woodwinds, each rendered with the original tape length of eight seconds. It replicates the unique behavior of the Mellotron with the inclusion of a special feature called the Mellotronic Click Switch (MCS), which introduces random tape head clicks at the start of notes. This adds an organic and unpredictable element to the sound, enhancing realism while allowing full control over the effect's intensity or complete deactivation.
