PitchShiftDelay is a time domain pitch shifter that operates using a traditional delay-based approach, enhanced by 16x oversampling to minimize typical pitch shifting artifacts. It allows real-time adjustment of the internal buffer length, providing flexibility in shaping the delayed sound. While it does not include formant correction, which can result in unusual vocal effects such as helium-like tones, this characteristic can be creatively exploited for unique sound design.
This plugin supports extreme pitch shifting up to 1000 times and delay times reaching 10 seconds, making it ideal for experimental audio processing and generating noise textures. Additional features include mirroring pitch shifts, reverse delay playback, and an LFO that modulates the pitch shift for dynamic sound movement. The combination of these capabilities encourages exploration beyond conventional effects.
Currently, the macOS version is experimental, and the Linux build is compatible primarily with Ubuntu 22.04, with build instructions available for other distributions. The source code is accessible for those interested in customization or development, reflecting an open approach to plugin evolution and community involvement.
