This physically modeled piano synthesizer delivers a chill lo-fi sound without relying on samples. It uses an innovative algorithm called Commuted Piano Synthesis, developed at Stanford in 1995, to recreate the authentic characteristics of a piano. This approach allows for a unique tonal quality that fits perfectly within chillhop and hip-hop music styles.
The sound passes through carefully designed effects including studio reverb, vinyl or tape noise simulation, flutter controls, bitcrushing, and saturation. These elements combine to capture the warm, textured vibe that defines lo-fi music. With 25 factory presets and support for sustain and sostenuto pedals, the synth offers a wide palette of expressive sounds.
Featuring 16 voice polyphony and a user-friendly preset browser with tagging and editing capabilities, all parameters are fully automatable for seamless integration into any production workflow. The plugin is open source, free from telemetry, analytics, and DRM, allowing users to explore, modify, and enhance the instrument freely.
