miniBit is a chiptune synthesizer designed to capture the distinctive sound of 1980s game consoles and retro computers. It offers a main oscillator with 18 unique waveforms alongside a sub oscillator that generates a square wave pitched one octave lower, giving users the classic 8-bit tonal quality. The synthesizer’s waveforms intentionally produce aliasing effects, enhancing its authentic, vintage character.
The instrument includes a built-in bitcrusher effect that adds gritty, noisy textures typical of early digital sound generation. It also features a synced 8-step sequencer with multiple modulation destinations, allowing for dynamic rhythmic and melodic patterns. Users can switch between polyphonic and monophonic modes, apply glide for smooth transitions, and shape sounds using a dual-pole filter with low-pass and high-pass options.
miniBit is equipped with delay and LFO effects to further expand sonic possibilities, and it comes with 50 presets plus a preset randomizer to inspire creativity. The synthesizer supports multiple plugin formats, including VST, AU, AAX, CLAP, and standalone operation, and is compatible across macOS, Windows, Linux, and iOS platforms. This makes miniBit a powerful tool for producers seeking authentic retro game-inspired sounds.
