The MEQ-5 is a midrange equalizer inspired by a classic design from the 1970s, crafted to enhance the critical midrange frequencies where guitars and vocals define the character of a mix. Featuring two bands dedicated to midrange boost and one band for midrange dip, it excels in shaping the so-called "power region" with precision. This focus allows producers to bring clarity and presence to essential elements without overwhelming other frequency ranges.
Complementing the MEQ-5, the HLF-3C adds 12 dB per octave low and high cut filters that provide broad tonal shaping reminiscent of vintage audio equipment. These filters enable users to recreate retro soundscapes or apply distinctive tonal effects while avoiding the insertion loss commonly associated with passive hardware units. The plug-in is optimized to handle mid/side processing, stereo imaging, and immersive mixing formats efficiently, streamlining workflow in modern production environments.
While the MEQ-5 supports surround sound profiles, it currently encounters compatibility issues with Logic Pro due to a known bug affecting AUv3 plugins on multi-channel tracks. This limitation does not affect its performance in other digital audio workstations such as Reaper, where multi-channel AUv3 functionality operates correctly. The plug-in is designed to save time and improve mixing accuracy, especially in complex, immersive audio projects.
