Lowender is a subharmonic synthesizer inspired by classic analog dual-band bass enhancer designs. It builds on traditional subharmonic generator circuits by providing enhanced control over low-frequency content, making it ideal for enriching bass lines and low-end elements in a mix. The plugin delivers authentic analog-modeled processing without relying on FFT techniques, ensuring a natural and musical bass enhancement.

The synthesizer offers selectable frequency ranges to tailor the generated subharmonics to different types of material. Users can choose the classic range targeting 24-56 Hz, or switch to settings better suited for the lowest octaves of guitar and bass instruments. This flexibility allows precise matching of the subharmonic content to the source audio, enhancing clarity and depth in the low end.

Lowender includes a dedicated gate designed specifically for low frequencies, which helps eliminate unwanted bass rumble and noise between transient hits. The output section features an overdrive circuit combined with a lowpass filter, allowing dynamic control and tonal shaping of the enhanced bass. This section can smooth out the overdrive’s harmonics for a clean low end or retain some grit for a more aggressive bass character, ensuring the subharmonics blend seamlessly within a mix.
