The HLS Channel plugin was developed in collaboration with legendary producer and engineer Eddie Kramer, capturing the essence of the iconic Helios mixing console used in classic recordings at London's Olympic Studios. This plugin authentically recreates the distinctive character of the original Helios console, including its renowned EQ curves and the warm saturation that made it a staple in the 1970s music production. The development team gained exclusive access to the Helios console from the Rolling Stones mobile truck, ensuring an accurate and faithful emulation of this vintage hardware.
Beyond the precise modeling of the Helios EQ’s sweet saturation, rich high-end presence, and thick low-frequency boost, the HLS Channel also simulates the console’s unique preamp coloration and behavior. This includes the analog noise and hum, which adds an authentic texture and depth to recordings. The plugin features an intuitive interface with controls for mic and line inputs, preamp drive, and detailed EQ adjustments, allowing users to dial in the classic Helios sound with precision and ease.
A standout feature of the HLS Channel is its meticulously recreated VU meter, which replicates the sensitivity, response, and visual feel of the original hardware meter. This attention to detail provides a tactile and immersive experience, making it easier for producers and engineers to monitor and shape their sound authentically. Designed to operate at up to 24-bit/96kHz resolution in both mono and stereo, the plugin delivers high-quality audio performance while preserving the vintage vibe that defined many legendary recordings.
