Keys of the 70s is a virtual keyboard instrument designed to capture the classic sounds of vintage electric pianos and keyboards from the 1970s. It functions as a wave synthesizer capable of playing a variety of sample types, using a proprietary compressed format to efficiently manage its sound banks. The included sounds feature iconic instruments such as a Stage EP 73 from 1977, a Logical EP 200, a stereo acoustic piano, a Clavinet, and a vibraphone, providing a rich palette for musicians and producers seeking authentic retro tones.
This VST offers a suite of effects to shape and enhance the sound, including reverb, chorus, tremolo, and a simulation of a tube amplifier cabinet with overdrive. Users can control the ADSR envelope to sculpt the dynamics and articulation of the instrument, while a specialized tine mix feature allows fine-tuning of the Stage EP sounds. Developed using the JUCE framework, the plugin ensures reliable performance and compatibility across platforms.
Version 2.0.2 introduces stereo capabilities with stereo tremolo and reverb effects, along with expanded sound banks that include a stereo piano. Users can select between a smaller or more comprehensive full-length sample bank according to their needs. The update also adds AUv3 support for Mac devices, enhancing integration with various digital audio workstations. Earlier updates improved the stability of reverb and chorus effects, addressing validation and tuning issues to deliver a refined user experience.
