JP6K is a synthesizer designed to faithfully recreate the iconic Super Saw sound originally introduced by the Roland JP-8000 in 1997. This sound remains highly popular across genres such as Trance and electronic music, prized for its rich, thick layers and shimmering texture. JP6K captures the unique character and behavior of the original oscillator, delivering an authentic experience that honors the legendary tone that has influenced music production for decades.
What sets JP6K apart is its accurate modeling of the original Super Saw’s distinctive qualities. The Roland Super Saw’s aliasing effect contributed to its bright and airy sonic signature, and JP6K replicates this by employing a similar design that includes a high pass filter to remove harsh frequencies below the fundamental harmonic. Additionally, the synth reproduces the Super Saw’s characteristic non-linear detune curve, allowing subtle control over detune spread for smooth pads at lower values and a wider spread at higher settings. This attention to detail results in a sound that closely mirrors the hardware’s expressive capabilities.
Beyond the signature oscillator, JP6K also emulates other key features of the JP-8000, including its filters, key tracking, and built-in EQ, offering users comprehensive control for shaping the sound. With 32 voice polyphony, two Super Saw oscillators, noise oscillator, multiple filter modes, and integrated delay and EQ effects, JP6K provides a powerful yet efficient tool for producers. Optimized for low CPU consumption, it supports multiple instances, making it a practical choice for complex productions seeking that classic Super Saw vibe.
