Hot Sauce is a dynamic gain processing plugin designed to enrich audio signals by adding harmonic content while gently managing peaks. It offers two distinct modes: Saturator and Exciter. The Saturator mode emulates tape or push-pull amplifier saturation by compressing the waveform and introducing warm odd harmonic distortion, creating a smooth and thickened sound. The Exciter mode enhances harmonic detail without compressing the signal, resulting in a brighter and more lively audio character.
This plugin is effective for increasing perceived loudness and brightness without introducing the common pumping artifacts associated with traditional compressors or limiters. It can be used before compressors to tame transients, reducing the need for heavy compression, or applied after compression to add consistent harmonic richness. Hot Sauce works well on a variety of sources, functioning as both a saturation effect and an exciter to enhance tonal excitement.
Hot Sauce supports high sample rates from 44.1kHz up to 192kHz with internal oversampling to minimize aliasing, ensuring clean and musical results. It is available as a 64-bit plugin in multiple formats, including VST2, VST3, AAX for Windows 8 and later, and VST2, VST3, AAX, and AU for Mac OS 10.11 and newer on both Intel and Apple Silicon processors. A free 14-day trial version is offered for users to experience its capabilities firsthand.
