It supports mono, stereo, and 5.1 surround sound formats, making it suitable for a wide range of audio production environments. The plugin features a history graph that allows users to review loudness levels up to 12 hours prior, providing valuable insight into the dynamics of long sessions.
Developed with broadcast standards in mind, the plugin helps reduce perceived loudness differences between programs through a real-time normalization function. This feature automatically adjusts gain to ensure signals do not exceed a user-defined reference level, utilizing any of the EBU R128 loudness measurements including momentary, short-term, or integrated values. Measurements are displayed in LUFS (Loudness Units Full Scale), which incorporate a pre-emphasis filter to better reflect human hearing perception, ensuring accurate and meaningful loudness readings.
The metering system employs different integration times to provide comprehensive loudness data: momentary measures over 400 milliseconds, short-term over 3 seconds, and integrated reflects overall loudness excluding long silences or extreme peaks. The dynamic range meter shows loudness variation within the program, while the true peak meter detects maximum signal levels using oversampling for precise inter-sample peak detection.
