HALion 7 is a premium software instrument designed to elevate music production and sound design. It introduces the FM Zone, developed in collaboration with Yamaha, allowing users to craft classic and modern FM synthesis sounds by combining multiple operators and utilizing an intuitive algorithm designer. The software supports DX7 and TX81Z sysex file import, expanding the palette of available tones. In addition to FM synthesis, HALion 7 features the new Spectral Zone, which uses an advanced time-stretch and resynthesis algorithm. This enables real-time playback speed changes without affecting pitch and offers tools like formant shift and spectral filtering to transform samples into entirely new sounds.
The modulation system in HALion 7 has been redesigned to simplify shaping and animating sounds, with easy assignment and visualization of modulation sources and destinations. The updated User Envelope includes brush, pen, and eraser tools for intuitive envelope customization, while the Shaper mode synchronizes envelopes with the host DAW tempo for dynamic effects. The interface has been refreshed with a cleaner layout, improved menus, and preconfigured screen sets, all aimed at enhancing workflow efficiency and creative focus. A newly developed pitch-shift and time-stretch algorithm ensures natural and precise sound manipulation, preserving stereo integrity even during extreme adjustments.
Advanced wavetable synthesis capabilities allow users to create wavetables with up to 1,024 waves and load multichannel files for detailed sound crafting. Each wave can be individually processed with a customizable spectral filter, ensuring smooth transitions between waves. HALion 7 also enables sample decomposition, separating tonal and noise components for innovative sound design and library creation. The redesigned MediaBay streamlines browsing and searching for samples, presets, and multis with a clearer structure and context-sensitive search, making sound selection faster and more efficient.
