The gate's Range control directly influences the speed of gain change, making it possible to create sharp, defined attacks or softer transitions. For instance, with a low range setting, the gain increases gradually, while a higher range setting produces rapid gain changes within the same attack time. The Hold parameter extends the period before the gate starts closing, giving additional control to soften drum hits or maintain sustain, enhancing the natural feel of the sound.

G8 includes a large Threshold knob with integrated sidechain level and gain reduction metering for intuitive adjustments. It features hysteresis control to avoid unwanted gate chattering during note decay, fast and accurate envelope shaping, and both high and low pass filters on the sidechain input.
