Third Harmonic Studios EXD-80 is a drum synthesizer plugin designed to create dynamic electronic drum and percussion sounds through subtractive synthesis. It offers a broad sonic range, from faithful recreations of classic drum machine tones to unique experimental textures such as distorted blips and glitchy zaps. This flexibility makes it suitable for various electronic music styles and sound design applications.

The plugin features eight dedicated drum modules, including kick, snare, closed and open hi-hats, alongside five individual percussion slots. Each drum sound can be routed to one of four stereo output pairs, each equipped with its own stereo effects section that includes a granulator and waveshaper for creative sound manipulation. Users can customize MIDI note mappings for all drum sounds, enabling seamless integration into diverse production setups.

Each percussion module combines a primary oscillator offering seven waveform options with an FM oscillator and a state-variable filter featuring multiple filter types and selectable cutoff slopes. This extensive control over sound shaping is complemented by VST host and MIDI automation capabilities, allowing producers to tweak numerous parameters in real time. The EXD-80 delivers both depth and precision for crafting distinctive drum patterns and textures.
