Erratic 2 is a dynamic drum sample player designed to bring life and variation to your drum patterns by incorporating extensive randomizing and velocity-sensitive options. It features 15 sample slots, each capable of holding multiple velocity layers to ensure every hit can sound unique. Users can assign velocity layers to trigger based on performance dynamics, round-robin cycling, or random selection, allowing drum sequences to evolve naturally with each loop. Additional controls such as hit probability, repeat probability, and random factors for velocity, pan, and swing introduce nuanced unpredictability, suitable for creating both realistic and experimental drum textures.
The latest update enhances expressiveness with velocity-sensitive decay envelopes for volume and filter cut-off, alongside pitch modulation based on velocity. Hit repeat functionality now includes adjustable delay timing, repeat velocity, and feedback sensitivity, adding rhythmic complexity. Erratic 2 replaces traditional step sequencing with flexible MIDI and piano-roll triggering, enabling precise note management for longer patterns and varied time signatures. This version also introduces four choke groups for better sample interaction, improved mute and solo controls, sample reversing, normalization, MIDI output, and support for 32-bit WAV files, broadening creative possibilities.
Optimized for low CPU usage by streaming samples from RAM, Erratic 2 supports 16, 24, and 32-bit mono or stereo WAV formats. Each sample slot can be assigned to user-defined MIDI notes, with modulation parameters including swing randomization, pan variation, and low-pass filtering with velocity-sensitive cutoff envelopes. The multi-output version offers 15 stereo outputs for individual channel mixing, while a single-output version accommodates hosts without multi-out support. The package includes over 1,400 samples spanning acoustic kits, vintage electronic sounds, glitch effects, jazz, world instruments, and unique noises, complemented by more than 40 presets showcasing diverse kits and playing techniques.
