This plugin recreates the iconic tape delay effect known as Frippertronics, inspired by Robert Fripp's use of two Revox B-77 tape machines running in a continuous loop. It offers a fresh, complete redesign of the original Elottronix with expanded capabilities that elevate the classic sound into a modern context. Users can explore extensive delay options with two independent delay lines that handle up to 80 seconds of delay each, allowing for rich, layered textures and rhythmic complexity.
The delay lines can be synced to the host tempo, enabling precise timing adjustments and creative rhythmic effects. Each delay line features an LFO-controlled pan with customizable bar divisions, pitch, and waveform options, along with two global pan modes to shape the stereo field dynamically. A rehearsal mode is available, letting users experiment without sending the signal through the delays, making it easier to craft the perfect loop before committing to the effect chain.
Additional features include a versatile multimode filter on each delay line with nine different filter types to sculpt tone, including low pass, high pass, shelving, and band pass options. The plugin also incorporates a tape hiss generator that can be pitch-shifted for added authenticity. All parameters are automatable via MIDI CC, offering deep control for live performance and studio work. With moderate CPU usage and a selection of presets, this tool provides a powerful platform for creating evolving, atmospheric soundscapes.
