Dual Spring Reverb is a groundbreaking plugin that models wave propagation in helical springs, offering a unique approach to spring reverb effects. Its audio engine is based entirely on the simulation of physical equations, providing an authentic and dynamic sound experience. This allows users to creatively configure the setup of the springs, shaping their own distinctive textures and tonal characteristics.
The plugin features two independently configurable springs, each with controls for echo time and chirp cutoff frequency. Users can manipulate the chirps to spread them out over time, enhancing the depth and movement of the reverb. Additional global controls include adjustments for the level of 'boing', damping, and tone, complemented by a 7-band mode equalizer. Stereo output is generated from the ends of each spring and blended through a cross-fade, enabling a broad palette of spring reverb sounds tailored to various materials and preferences.
Dual Spring Reverb's sound design is rooted in a purely mathematical model of spring vibration, starting from wave propagation in elastic helical structures. Physical properties like length, wire radius, and pitch angle are translated into perceptual parameters that users can adjust. This model creates a discrete modal system updated over time, capturing the intricate behavior of spring vibrations. Additional features include a modeled pre-amp drive unit and reverb pre-delay to further refine the effect.
