D'Pinga Timbal is a virtual instrument designed to capture the authentic sound of timbales drums, ideal for Afro-Cuban and salsa music styles. It offers a rich selection of percussion sounds, including 19 timbal tones, multiple cascara patterns, mambo bells, chacha bells, cymbals, and woodblock. Each sound is carefully crafted with up to eight velocity layers and multiple round robin variations to provide dynamic and natural performances.

The instrument features adjustable controls for gain, tuning, and panning on each drum or instrument, allowing precise customization to fit various musical contexts. Users can choose between two preset programs: Timbal Light, which contains 16 selected sounds for straightforward playability, and Timbal Full, which includes the complete range of sounds. An adjustable envelope adds further expression and control over the sound.

Built using the JUCE framework, D'Pinga Timbal is distributed under the GPL3 license, ensuring it is accessible for a wide range of producers and musicians. It integrates seamlessly with other percussion instruments for Latin genres, making it a valuable tool for creating authentic rhythms.
