Built to comply with General MIDI drum mapping, Blue Lue draws inspiration from advanced arranger machines by incorporating three style slots that operate consecutively. Each style contains eight variations, and with 880 pre-made drum styles spanning multiple genres such as rock, Latin, and more, it offers extensive rhythmic diversity. The tool supports synchronization with your host tempo and provides flexible playback speeds including regular, double, and half speed. Additional tempo control options include tap tempo and free-hand BPM adjustment to suit live performances and studio work.

Blue Lue features a divided keyboard layout with a style playing range and a drumkit playing range, both accessible via hardware or the virtual user interface. This setup allows instant switching between variations, ideal for live jamming and composing. A favorites page lets users save preferred sets for quick access, which can be saved as presets and assigned to MIDI controllers through MIDI learn functionality.
